In this video we’re going to talk about His name, Jesus Christ.  The Name which is above every Name! For many of you watching this, it is to Confirm your Faith!  Our Salvation is in a Name!

Who is the Messiah?  You have to do a little history, you have to do a little research to Overcome these various False Doctrines that we have.

What are the False Doctrines?  Well, as we explained in the previous video, Iesous Christos in the Greek is how we say Jesus Christ in English, of course it comes from Hebrew, Yehosuah Ha’ Mashiach.  Ha is The, Mashiach is Messiah.  The Messiah, His Name.  {Please watch ‘Is Jesus Christ YHWH? We established He is Lord, in the Greek: Kyrios.  And the Greek goes back to the LORD: YHWH, in the Old Testament.  So when we address Him as Lord, Jesus Christ is Lord, Jesus Christ is YHWH!

Now, the Contention in this Movement is about His NAME!  Many people in a Movement, called the Hebrew Roots Movement, are part of this to Contest the Name of JESUS!  And they’re contesting the Name by saying the Name is equated to Roman, ‘It’s a Roman name or Zeus!’  And we’re going to see in this video, that’s clearly False!

Now, our evidence for this is a Book called the Septuagint.  The Septuagint is 2 Centuries BEFORE Christ, written by Rabbis, written by Jews, and it’s a Translation.  Just like you have a Translation in English from the Greek the New Testament, and from the Hebrew the Old Testament you have a Translation into English.

The Whole World was speaking Greek 2 centuries BEFORE Christ, and so the Rabbis gave a Book to the Jews to read, the Old Testament Hebrew in Greek!  It’s called the Septuagint!

And so, what we have is something very Fascinating, because now what we can do is see what exactly, like when you read different Translations in English of the Bible, they had a Translation of the Septuagint, which was the Greek.

So, what do we have?  We have a Book in the Old Testament in Greek, 2 Centuries BEFORE Christ, and in it, it proves Jesus Christ’s NAME!  It also proves that the New Testament was in Greek!

The other part of this Movement to eliminate the name of Jesus, to eliminate the Greek Language, is to say that the New Testament was written in Hebrew!  Well, the Septuagint PROVES THAT FALSE!

Why?  Because the Writers of the Book of Matthew, the Gospel of Luke, etc, HAVE DIRECT QUOTES FROM THE SEPTUAGINT!  So, that’s NOT possible that it’s written in Hebrew, translated into a Hebrew that comes from Greek!  No!  It is Directly from the Septuagint, it has the same precise words in Greek that we read in the New Testament.

The New Testament has over 5,000 Manuscripts in the Greek language, only a very small number are Translations into Hebrew. So the Septuagint is very, very important for us, and let’s take a look at His name in the Septuagint.

Now let’s look at the Septuagint and the Scriptures. 1st we’re going to look here in English, in the Book of Joshua.  We’re seeing here in Joshua chapter 1, and verse 10, and then it says, ‘Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying.’

And then if we go to the Septuagint, this is the Greek version of the Old Testament.  And then we have ‘Kai’ which is like ‘and’, and here, if we look at this word, this is what we saw, Joshua or Yehosuah, we can clearly see that this word, I want you to look at it very closely, I don’t know how to pronounce all the Greek letters, but this is Iesous.

And again, what we’re looking at, is we’re looking at a Translation of the Old Testament, Book of Joshua from Hebrew to Greek.  This is again, 200 Years BEFORE Jesus Christ!  And here we can clearly see this Word, now let’s look at it in the New Testament Greek:

Here we are in Matthew chapter 1, and verse 21, and we can read, ‘And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.’ And again, if we go back to the Greek, this is Jesus in the Greek:  Iesous!  And what we can clearly see, is that Jesus here, is exactly what we see in Yehosuah/Joshua:

Joshua chapter 1, verse 10, see Iesous, Jesus!  So there we have a clear indication that in the Greek, the Name; Yehosuah/Joshua is Iesous in the Greek!  And keep mind what we’re looking at here, is Greek that is 200 Years BEFORE Jesus Christ!

So, this is telling us very clearly, that the idea and notion that the name of Jesus is in anyway Roman and in any way associated with Zeus, is clearly FALSE!  Because we have very, very clear indications of writings by Rabbis, by Jews when they Translated the Old Testament Hebrew into Greek, and when they came to Joshua/Yehosuah, they Translated it to Iesous!

And that same Iesous, we can see as the Word used in the Gospels!

{Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.}

And so here, we can see, ‘And she shall bring forth a son, and call his name Jesus.’ Iesous, and that name in the Hebrew is Yehosuah!  But clearly and Angel is giving ‘Yehosuah’ as a name!  But, the Writers, of both the Jews that are Translating, just think of it like they’re Translating from here, we’re looking at a Translation into English, the Rabbis are Translating from Hebrew into Greek!

Why?  Because most of the Jews are speaking Greek!  And when they do, and we get to this Name, we can clearly see it’s the Same!  So, I hope that you could see that these idea’s are False Teachings, about the Name of Jesus is somehow associated with something Roman. Roman influence in the area of Judea and Samaria, is NOT until around 68 B.C.!

So, we’re looking at Writings in the Septuagint that are 2 Centuries (200 Years) prior to that!  So these are 2 Centuries prior!  So, there’s NO WAY that the name Iesous is in any way associated with anything Roman!  This is just a simple Translation of Yehosuah in the Hebrew, into Iesous in the Greek.

Now a major argument in this idea that the name Jesus is Greek in nature, comes from the idea that the New Testament was written in Hebrew!

But what we’re going to look at, is there’s pretty strong indications, not just pretty strong, it’s basically, IT WAS WRITTEN IN GREEK!  So, if it was written in Greek, the Apostles through their own ‘hand’, as it says, we’ll see, they Wrote in Greek!

And if they Wrote in Greek, they wrote: Iesous, Jesus, with their own ‘hand’, which we’re going to see!  But our 1st example is Luke!  So Luke is the writer of the Gospel of Luke, and the Book of Acts.  And he writes those Books addressed to the ‘most excellent Theophilus.’

So, Theophilus is a Greek name.  And he’s most likely a Gentile, therefore the Books are written in Greek for this Gentile to be able to read!  They’re not going to be written in Hebrew.

And we can see throughout the Book, that Luke makes a distinction whenever the Hebrew language is used!  So, for example, if he were just writing everything in Hebrew, he wouldn’t say, ‘They’re saying it in Hebrew!’  Because the Book is written in Greek, he is making a distinction, ‘Apostle Paul said this in Greek,’ but then he said, ‘This in Hebrew.’

{Acts 1:19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.}

So we see this right away in Acts 1:19, ‘And it was known to all that dwells in Jerusalem, insomuch.’  What are we talking about?  Jerusalem, right?  ‘there’s a field and in their proper tongue.’  What’s their proper tongue?  It’s Hebrew!

And it says, in the writing in Hebrew for the people to understand, ‘Aceidama’.  So that’s in Hebrew, and then he quotes and he continues in Greek, what does it mean? The field of blood.  So again, Luke is using in their own language, meaning Hebrew, because the Letter is written in Greek!

{Acts 21:40 And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people.  And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongues, saying, 22:1 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you, 2 (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)}

Same thing, and Luke makes a distinction when Paul is speaking, and he addresses in Hebrew, NOT Greek!  Acts 21:40 And Paul stood on the stairs,’ this is Jerusalem.  ‘and beckoned with the hand unto the people.  And when there was made a great silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,’ 22:1 ‘Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you. 22:2 (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence, and he,’ went on his Dicourse!

So, it’s being made very clear here, that Luke is, and earlier, Apostle Paul is speaking to the Chief and he speaks to him in Greek!  And they thought well, ‘Why aren’t you speaking in Egyptian?  Because you are this Egyptian False Prophet, right?’  And he’s like, ‘No!’ He’s not!

So again, we have Paul addressing in Jerusalem, in Hebrew, but the writer is making that distinction, that he is addressing them in Hebrew, because the Writing is in Greek!

{Acts 26:14 And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?  it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. 15 And I said, Who are thou, Lord?  And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.}

The next example, Acts 26:14, Apostle Paul, ‘I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue.’  So why is it necessary to identify the Hebrew tongue?  Well, that’s because it’s Written in Greek!  ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’  And I said, ‘Who are you Lord’ (Kyrios)?  And he said, ‘I am Yehosuah’ (Jesus).’  Now, he’s speaking in Hebrew, right?  So he’s going to say, ‘Yehosuah’.

But the writing of the Book of Acts is in Greek! And so that would be Jesus!  Iesous in Greek!  ‘Whom you persecute.’

So Apostle Paul was the Apostle to the Gentiles (Gal.2:9) !  Now he presented the Gospel to the Jew 1st!  We can see this in the Book of Acts chapter 13, when he’s in Cyprus, he goes to these Synagogues 1st!  So the Gospel is to the Jew 1st!

{Romans 1:16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.}

But, inevitably the Jews will reject the Gospel, so then Paul goes to the Gentiles (ex. Acts 13:46). So the Church’s is where he’s directing his writings, his Epistles.

And you can see I have a Note: ‘Cyprus Synagogue’.  So, let’s take a look at a Synagogue in Cyprus, and the writing!

Now, this is a Pillar in Cyprus of a 6th Century Synagogue. In it, Joses goes about rebuilding a ‘Synagogue’!  Synagogue is Jewish, right?  But what language is this?  THIS IS GREEK!  Why is the Synagogue written in Greek?  Because the Jews spoke Greek!  So, very interesting!

{2 Thessalonians 3:17 This salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is a token in every epistle: so I write. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.  Amen. The second epistle to the Thessalonians was written from Athens.}

Now, in the Epistle to the Thessalonians, the 2nd Epistle, chapter 3, verse 17, it says, ‘This salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is a token in every epistle.’  So, there’s a salutation he writes in every Epistle!  ‘so I write.’  This is what he writes.  ‘The grace of our Lord (Kyrios) Jesus Christ.’

So, the Apostle Paul is writing in his own ‘hand’, Jesus Christ, Iesous Christos, ‘be with you all. Amen. The second (epistle to the Thessalonians was written from Athens).’

Now, in order for us to understand where is Thessalonians, where are these people, let’s take a look at a map:

So, we showed you before, the Apostle Paul had began a Missionary journey, in Acts chapter 13, in Cyprus.  You can see, of course in the blue dot there, I’m in Cyprus.  So, that is that location.

And so now we have this is modern (map).  So you have Greece and we have an Epistle to the Thessalonians.  Well, in modern Greece that city exists, it’s called Thessalonica, so you can see that right there.  As well, let’s pull up a map of his journeys, and again a map of where he is doing his journeys, and the various names.

Clearly what you can see, here’s Athens {photo on the left}.  Here’s Thessalonica {photo on the right}.  So this is in Greece!  So the people there are going to be speaking Greek!  And not only that, this is the Greek language throughout this entire area, everybody is speaking Greek, if you’re speaking to International Trade, and everything else, it’s kind of like speaking English.

If you travel, and you do International Business, you have to speak English!  So the Letter’s to Thessalonica, you can see right here is Corinth, these are to the Jew 1st, Yea,  but there to the Greeks!

The Greeks are NOT going to speak Hebrew!

So the Letter’s that Apostle Paul is writing, they’re in Greek!  And so he is writing in his own Hand, as we clearly saw, in Greek, in order for the people to understand that.

So we saw in Luke, he’s addressing Theophilus, and as a Greek name, so he’s writing that in Greek!

For time’s sake, I’m not going to get into all this, but this is the Book of Acts {18:30 min mark}.  And many examples, where again, Luke makes a distinction between the Jews and the Greeks.  There was a disputing of the widows that were not being cared for in Jerusalem, and so they’re called Greeks!

{Acts 6:1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.}

And throughout, and we have Acts 11, and 14, and 17, all these differences of the Jews and Greeks.

So what’s interesting, as you can see here, and I’ll post these notes for you, is that even the Epistle’s to the Hebrews there are 7 quotes or clear references to the Septuagint.  We showed you the Septuagint is the Old Testament in Greek, and we have word for word, in the Book of Hebrews, and these are all the references, if you want to look this up and research?  (Hebrews 1:6; 2:13; 8:12; 10:6,7; 11:20; 12:5,6; 12:12, etc.)

So, even the Book of Hebrew, may have been in Greek!  So, there are clear references to the Septuagint, which is written in Greek, in the Book of Hebrews, Fasinating!

So, what have we learned?  We’ve learned that we can have Confidence in that Name!  And have Confidence in the name of Jesus, as we say in English.  We can have Confidence in the name in Greek, Iesous.  We can have Confidence in the name, Yehosuah, in the Hebrew.

If you ever cast out Demons, you can do so in the name of Jesus!  They know about this name!  They know that this is the Name, this is the Name that came from the Angel that Mary was to call her Son!

So we live in the day, the Name is Contested!  So this is to Build the Faith of you to Believe in that Name!  I encourage you, and the majority of you do!

But, we’re in the Last Days and there’s a Contention against this Name, as we can clearly see!  James 2:6 talks about, they will draw you before the Judgment Seats.

{James 2:6 But ye have despised the poor.  Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seat?}

So, YouTube channels like this one and others, that are speaking Boldly about this Name, this False Movement doesn’t like. But we do not blaspheme that worthy name by which we are called. So there’s a Name by which we are called, and that’s Jesus Christ!

1 John 5:13 These things I have written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you will believe in the name of the Son of God.

And this is an admonition to the Ekklesia, the Church’s in Revelation, because Christ told them that His name would be contended for!

Revelation 2:3 ‘And you have borne, and have patience.’ Why? ‘for my name’s sake and you have labored and you have not fainted.’

So there are REWARDS that maintain the Name, His Name!

Revelation 2:13 ‘And you hold fast my name, you have not denied my faith.’

Again, we have an association with the Name, and Faith!

Revelation 3:8 ‘And you have kept my word, and you have not denied my name.’

Again, a 2nd admonition to the Church, ‘denying the name!’  People are Denying HIS Name!

And who is doing this?  THE BEAST!

Revelation 13:6 And he (the Beast) opened his mouth in blashpemy against God, to blasphemy his name.

And unfortunately, that is Exactly what is happening!  So in this Movement of this False Doctrine, of attributing the name of Jesus to evil things is FALSE!

Any of you that use Yeshua, or Yehoshua, there’s nothing wrong with that, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with the name of Jesus!  Iesous, Yehoshua!
